Saw the little tin of Vaseline rolling around in my bag the other day and it got me thinking… I had forgotten how in the past I used it for more than just moisturising my lips.  We all love a product that has multiple uses and this is definitely one of those products.

In the 1860’s, Robert Augustus Chesebrough, a chemist from New York, discovered Petroleum Jelly. In 1870, this product was branded as Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. Today, Vaseline is still a staple in peoples medicine cabinets around the world.

1 – Exfoliate Lips – Put Vaseline Petroleum Jelly on dry lips and leave it for a few minutes. Lightly rub lips with a toothbrush to exfoliate.

2 – Body Scrub – Mix some Vaseline with sugar to create a full body scrub. Rub over your body to remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and soft.

3 – Soft Heels – Simply cover your feet with Vaseline, put on a pair of socks and sleep in them overnight. Your feet will be softer and less prone to blisters.

4 – Post-Wax Relief – Apply a little Vaseline to relieve skin soreness post-waxing. Also works for sore skin post threading of eyebrows.

5 – Hair Dye – Apply Vaseline along your hairline before using hair dye to prevent stains on your skin.

6 – Blush – Mix a little Vaseline with some lipstick to create a lasting blush.

7 – Eczema – Apply Vaseline to help soothe eczema. Apply straight from the shower while you are still damp.

8 – Chaffing – Apply a little Vaseline to prevent chaffing during exercise.

9 – Soften Rough Skin – Use Vaseline on dry elbows,  knees or other rough patches to help moisturise and smooth the skin.

10 – Remove Rings – Use a little Vaseline on your finger to help rings slide off easily.
