
NYX Professional Makeup Launches ‘Game Out Loud’ Campaign to Combat LGBTQIA+ Bullying in Online Gaming
In a bid to raise awareness about the issue of LGBTQIA+ bullying in online gaming, NYX Professional Makeup has recently unveiled its latest campaign, titled ‘Game Out Loud.’ The initiative aims to tackle hate and create safe spaces both within the virtual world and in real life.
The campaign showcases the talents of five LGBTQIA+ individuals, including renowned cosplay and make-up artists, Lilly Teel and Frederic Chen. By featuring these influential figures, NYX hopes to amplify their voices and promote inclusivity.
Nicolas Vissat, Assistant VP of US Marketing at NYX, emphasized the brand’s unwavering support for the LGBTQIA+ community, stating, “Our longstanding allyship to the LGBTQIA+ community is a fundamental aspect of our brand’s values.”
As part of the ‘Game Out Loud’ campaign, NYX is implementing safe spaces across various online platforms, including Roblox, Twitch, and nyxcosmetics.com. Within the virtual realm of Roblox’s iHeartland, NYX has created the House of NYX Professional Makeup space. Visitors to this space will encounter a non-player character who will encourage them to take an allyship pledge. Upon completion, visitors will receive an ally badge for their Roblox avatar, serving as a symbol of their support and allyship.
In partnership with LGBTQIA+ gamers, NYX will host a series of live streams on Twitch, focusing on education, ally messaging, and inclusivity. These streams aim to foster a welcoming and accepting community within the gaming world.
To further support allyship, NYX will also provide allyship training and education on its website, nyxcosmetics.com. This initiative aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to combat LGBTQIA+ bullying and discrimination.
The urgency of addressing this issue is underscored by a study conducted by NYX, revealing that nearly 90% of LGBTQIA+ gamers have experienced harassment related to their identities while gaming online.
Through the ‘Game Out Loud’ campaign, NYX Professional Makeup is taking a proactive stance against LGBTQIA+ bullying, striving to create a more inclusive and accepting environment for all gamers.
