Cosmetics industry leaders unite to promote animal-free testing globally
Over 35 major players in the cosmetics industry have come together to promote animal-free testing worldwide. Forming the International Collaboration on Cosmetics Safety (ICCS).
The group includes industry associations, cosmetics manufacturers, suppliers, and animal protection organisations.
Famous beauty brands, such as L’Oréal, LVMH, and Procter & Gamble (P&G), will support scientific evaluation of new animal-free safety assessment methods and share the results with regulators.
The full list of ICCS members also includes BASF, Beiersdorf, Chanel, Unilever, and many others.
ICCS’s formation comes as concern has been raised by animal welfare NGOs over rare instances in the European Union where animal tests are mandated for cosmetic ingredients to meet REACH regulations.
